New York Rangers News & Updates

The Chicago Cubs emerged victorious over the Milwaukee Brewers with a close 4-3 win in a 10-inning match. The teams remained even at 3-3 after nine innings until Ian Happ of the Cubs delivered a game-winning single in the top of the 10th. Despite their efforts to bounce back in the bottom of the inning, the Brewers were ultimately thwarted when Row Wick, the Cubs' closer, struck out the final batter to clinch the victory.

Freddy Peralta, the starting pitcher for the Brewers, performed admirably, conceding three runs on five hits across seven innings. Nevertheless, the Cubs capitalized on the Milwaukee bullpen's difficulties. Chicago managed to score twice in the seventh inning off reliever Hoby Milner, with Happ's decisive action in the 10th sealing the outcome.

Kyle Hendricks started on the mound for the Cubs and had a solid performance, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings. The Brewers chipped away at him, scoring once in the first inning and again in the fifth, but Hendricks mostly kept them in check. The Cubs initially got on the scoreboard in the second inning, initiated by a sacrifice fly from Patrick Wisdom.

The matchup was marked by several pivotal moments. In the top of the ninth, Christian Yelich, an outfielder for the Brewers, misjudged a ball, enabling the Cubs to equalize. In the ninth's bottom half, Omar Narvaez, the Brewers' catcher, lined into a double play with two runners ready on base, thus stifling their offensive threat.

Thanks to this win, the Cubs boosted their record to 30-27 for the season, while the Brewers slipped to 28-26.
