The Mustangs clinched a thrilling win against the Wildcats on Friday night, finishing with a score of 24-17.
During the initial phase of the game, both teams struggled to build any real momentum. Things changed in the second quarter when the Mustangs took the lead through a touchdown pass from their quarterback, Ryan Carter, to Jayden Wheeler, their wide receiver.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats responded when their running back, Michael Johnson, scored a touchdown. Nevertheless, the Mustangs quickly regained their advantage with another Carter to Wheeler touchdown pass. Although the Wildcats managed to close the gap somewhat with a field goal in the fourth quarter, they fell short in their attempt to overtake the Mustangs.
The Mustangs' defense was instrumental in securing the win by forcing three turnovers and achieving a crucial interception by cornerback Marcus Williams in the end zone during the game's final moments.
Ryan Carter, the Mustangs' quarterback, exhibited exceptional performance by completing 18 out of 25 passes, accumulating 250 yards, and scoring three touchdowns. Jayden Wheeler topped all receivers with six catches for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
The Wildcats' running back, Michael Johnson, ran for 105 yards on 22 carries, while their quarterback, David Jones, passed for 150 yards and secured one touchdown.
This victory elevates the Mustangs to a season record of 6-2, while the Wildcats' record drops to 3-5.
