In Tempe, Logan Cooley netted his inaugural NHL hat trick as Clayton Keller added a goal along with three assists, leading the Arizona Coyotes to halt the Nashville Predators' commendable 18-game point streak by clinching an 8-4 victory.
The Predators’ streak stood as the longest within the franchise's annals and topped the league’s records for the season, until the Coyotes, with their recent win, illustrated their strength with a season record of 3-0-1 against Nashville, encompassing two straight victories.
In this match, Cooley celebrated his first game with multiple goals, his highlight being an unaided goal into an empty net, marking his season's 16th goal. The Coyotes also saw goals from players including Jack McBain, Nick Bjugstad, Nick Schmaltz, and Matias Maccelli.
The initial lead set by Nashville's Jason Zucker, who scored two goals, was quickly neutralized by McBain and Cooley within the first period. Keller, on a hot streak now covering seven games, landed his 31st goal with assistance from Josh Doan.
Following the game's progression, Nashville’s goalie, Juuse Saros, was benched in favor of Kevin Lankinen after conceding six goals. Filip Forsberg managed to score his 41st goal for the Predators. From Arizona's side, Connor Ingram blocked 30 shots.
Looking ahead, the Predators are gearing up for their next game in Colorado on Saturday, while the Coyotes are set to host a match against the New York Rangers.
