Trevor Moore contributed with a short-handed goal, and Alex Laferriere recorded his ninth goal of the season, aiding the Los Angeles Kings in their 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Kings now boast a 4-1-1 record over their last six games and have started the season with the same record at home.
After a sluggish first period where they conceded a goal to Dmitri Voronkov, Los Angeles bounced back in the second period with goals from Vladislav Gavrikov and Warren Foegele.
Ivan Provorov managed to net a power-play goal for Columbus, but the Kings' offensive momentum was too strong to overcome. Brandt Clarke secured the victory with an empty-net goal, and David Rittich made 24 saves.
The Blue Jackets are currently on a four-game losing streak and have found it difficult to produce offensively, with only nine goals in their last five games.
Samuel Helenius, a prospect for the Kings, made his NHL debut and marked it with his first career point by assisting on Foegele's goal.
The Kings have been effective in the third period this season, scoring 27 goals as they continue to show strength as the games wear on.
Columbus is set to face Anaheim on Sunday, while Los Angeles will play against Calgary on Monday.
