Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

In Edmonton, Alberta, despite facing the news of their probable relocation to Utah, the Arizona Coyotes managed to secure a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in an overtime session. The pivotal moment came when Matias Maccelli netted the winning goal just 1:35 into overtime.

Contributions from Josh Doan and Logan Cooley were crucial in achieving the Coyotes' fourth victory in their last five outings, with Karel Vejmelka's impressive 37 saves playing a key role in their win.

The defeat ended a three-game winning streak for the Oilers, who saw contributions from Adam Henrique and Darnell Nurse on the scoreboard, while Calvin Pickard defended the net with 25 saves.

Without their leading scorer Connor McDavid, sidelined by a lower-body injury, Edmonton fell further behind the Pacific Division leaders, the Vancouver Canucks, by three points.

During the overtime period, Maccelli executed a precise shot into the top corner against Pickard, marking his 15th score of the season.

The scoring opened with Doan marking his fourth goal of the season in the first period, with Pickard making crucial saves to keep the match competitive.

Henrique's 23rd goal early in the second period evened the score, but Cooley's goal at 5:37, his 20th of the season, showed his prowess as one of the few players under the age of 20 to reach this milestone this season. The game saw another equalizer from the Oilers through Nurse's 10th season goal early in the third period.

With McDavid close to a historic achievement in assists and presently listed as day-to-day, the Coyotes look forward to concluding their five-game road trip in Calgary on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Oilers are set to face Vancouver at home on Saturday night during their four-game
