Macklin Celebrini, the NHL's first overall draft pick, debuted at the San Jose Sharks' development camp, showcasing his impressive skating and stick-handling abilities.
Celebri is currently deciding whether to join the Sharks this season or return to Boston University. He intends to reveal his choice shortly after the camp ends.
In his freshman season at college, Celebri netted 32 goals and provided 32 assists, and he is viewed as a critical player in revitalizing the Sharks after a lackluster previous season.
John McCarthy, who coaches the Sharks' AHL affiliate team, commended Celebrini for his maturity and competitiveness.
Celebri shared his enthusiasm about the fan support and the team's future prospects.
Originally from North Vancouver, Celebrini moved to Northern California in 2018, where he played for the Junior Sharks U-14 team.
His father, Rick, serves as the vice president of player health and performance for the Warriors, making Macklin’s return to the Bay Area a familiar experience.
Celebri's future path, whether with the Sharks or at Boston University, will remain unknown until he makes his decision after the development camp scrimmage.
