Just before the start of free agency, the Toronto Maple Leafs have extended Timothy Liljegren's contract for two more years, with an annual salary of $3 million. At 25 years old, Liljegren played in 55 games last season, recording three goals and 20 assists.
Looking to strengthen their defensive lineup prior to the signing period, the Maple Leafs have also brought in Chris Tanev from the Dallas Stars. Tanev, known for being a sought-after right-shot defender, is anticipated to join Morgan Rielly on the team's top defensive pairing.
