Maple Leafs Triumph 4-2 Over Devils with Lorentz, Hildeby Shining in Debut

Steven Lorentz contributed with a goal and an assist to help the Toronto Maple Leafs secure a 4-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.

Dennis Hildeby, who was selected by Toronto in the fourth round of the 2022 draft, made 22 saves in his NHL debut, achieving his first win in the league. The Maple Leafs also saw goals from Max Pacioretty, Bobby McMann, and John Tavares.

The New Jersey Devils' goals came from Jesper Bratt and Timo Meier. Despite their previous success in Prague against the Buffalo Sabres, they couldn't clinch a win over Toronto.

Sheldon Keefe, previously the coach for the Maple Leafs, debuted on home turf as the new coach for the Devils but couldn't secure a win for his team.

The defense of the Maple Leafs was strong, blocking 27 shots and limiting high-quality scoring opportunities for the Devils.

The Devils' power play was ineffective, managing just one goal out of five attempts.

The victory marked the Maple Leafs' eighth consecutive road win against the Devils, a streak stretching back to 2018.

Toronto is set to host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday, while the Devils are heading to Washington to take on the Capitals.
