Minnesota Wild News & Updates

The Minnesota Wild have renewed Marc-Andre Fleury's contract, securing him for an additional year at a deal worth $2.5 million, which will see him playing into his 40th year.

As Fleury nears his 40th birthday in November, he's achieved a significant milestone by moving past Patrick Roy to claim the second spot on the list of all-time career wins for NHL goaltenders, with only Martin Brodeur ahead of him by 130 wins.

In addition to Fleury, the Wild's goaltending roster includes Filip Gustavsson and their highly regarded prospect Jesper Wallstedt.

Even though Fleury has faced challenges this season with a save percentage at .895 and an average of 2.98 goals against him, he has still managed to secure two shutouts with the Wild. Despite these efforts, the team did not make the playoffs and is set to play against Seattle in what will be their last game of the regular season.

This season will be the first in 18 years, dating back to his time with Pittsburgh, that Fleury will miss the playoffs.

Having been traded to the Wild from Chicago two seasons prior, Fleury has participated in 96 games, starting 91 of them, and has achieved a record of 50 wins, 32 losses, and 9 ties. His performance during his tenure with the Wild includes a goals-against average of 2.89 and a save percentage of .903.
