Winnipeg Jets News & Updates

Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets scored twice, first with 1:04 left in regulation and then 38 seconds into overtime, leading his team to a 2-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.

Winnipeg's goaltender, Connor Hellebuyck, made 25 saves, contributing to the team's victory in their home opener. Ryan Donato scored for Chicago in the second period, and Arvid Soderblom stopped 34 shots for the Blackhawks.

The Jets faced challenges breaking through Chicago's defense throughout most of the game, but they surged in the final moments to change the outcome.

The Blackhawks weren't able to maintain their advantage during the closing moments of the match.

Scheifele managed to equalize the game with a backhand shot following a rebound from Nikolai Ehlers’ attempt, with Hellebuyck out for an additional skater.

Winnipeg outshot Chicago 36 to 25, with both goaltenders making crucial saves, but it was Soderblom who was ultimately beaten twice.

Next up, the Jets will play against Minnesota on Sunday, and the Blackhawks are set to face Edmonton on Saturday.
