In a thrilling overtime finish on Sunday night, Matt Boldy helped the Minnesota Wild claim a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs by scoring just over two minutes into the extra period.
Boldy's decisive play came from a seamless collaboration with Marco Rossi during a 2-on-0 breakaway, orchestrated by Jared Spurgeon, which led to Boldy's goal past Toronto's goalie Anthony Stolarz.
Minnesota's goalie, Filip Gustavsson, was impressive with 27 saves, while Anthony Stolarz stopped 31 shots for Toronto.
The opening goal for Minnesota was scored by Ryan Hartman, whereas William Nylander found the back of the net for Toronto, recording their sole goal.
Overtime saw no shots on goal from either team, with Minnesota celebrating their first overtime victory and Toronto experiencing their second overtime defeat.
A late second-period penalty by Oliver Ekman-Larsson resulted in an extended power play opportunity for Minnesota, which they couldn't convert into a goal.
Nylander's goal marked Toronto's first power-play goal on the road this season.
Looking ahead, Toronto is set to host Boston on Tuesday, while Minnesota will welcome Los Angeles on the same day.
