Tampa Bay Lightning News & Updates

Matt Boldy scored a power-play goal just 54 seconds into the third period, giving the Minnesota Wild a 3-2 lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning. With a final score of 4-2, the Wild maintained their unbeaten status in regulation, improving their record to 5-0-2.

Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his first victory of the season by making 23 saves. Kirill Kaprizov contributed two goals, one of which was an empty-netter, while Joel Eriksson Ek also found the net for Minnesota.

For Tampa Bay, Brandon Hagel and Nikita Kucherov each scored a goal, marking Tampa Bay's first loss at home in four games. This victory for the Wild also concluded a stretch of 391 minutes and 31 seconds without them trailing during regulation time.

Leading the NHL, Kucherov has already tallied eight goals and has earned points in all seven games Tampa Bay has played. Boldy's decisive goal came as a result of Nick Paul's penalty for high-sticking, giving the Wild their fourth power-play opportunity.

Minnesota has scored the opening goal in every game this season, with a dominant first period performance evidenced by an 8-1 goal differential over their opponents. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has faced challenges executing power plays, having gone 0 for 1 against Minnesota and failed to convert in their last eight attempts at home.

Looking ahead, the Wild will continue their seven-game road trip in Philadelphia on Saturday, while the Lightning are set to host Washington.
