The New York Rangers have moved Matt Rempe, a favorite among fans, to their AHL team, the Hartford Wolf Pack. This season, the 22-year-old has played in only two out of seven games for the Rangers and hasn't recorded any points or penalty minutes.
Last season, Rempe captured attention with his intense fights, racking up 71 penalty minutes and even serving a suspension for elbowing. His high-energy style in short bursts on the ice turned him into something of a cult hero with Rangers fans, leading to the phenomenon dubbed "Rempe-Mania."
During the offseason, Rempe concentrated on enhancing his overall performance. He worked on his skating and received coaching from Chris Kreider. Additionally, he improved his fighting skills by attending a hockey camp run by Georges Laraque.
The Rangers think that playing more in Hartford will help Rempe develop further. Even though he's had limited time on the ice, Rempe has approached his situation with a mature attitude.
Despite recently losing to the Florida Panthers, the Rangers have started the season strong, boasting a 5-1-1 record.
