In a dominant performance by the Edmonton Oilers, Connor McDavid played a pivotal role in their 6-1 triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. This win not only extended his point streak but also solidified his position as the leading scorer this season. McDavid found the back of the net twice and delivered one assist, contributing to Edmonton's third win in a row.
For the Oilers, Mattias Ekholm was another key player, scoring once and setting up two more goals. Additional scorers included Adam Henrique, Warren Foegele, and Zach Hyman, while goaltender Calvin Pickard was on the verge of his second career shutout, stopping 22 shots.
The Ducks' singular goal came courtesy of Alex Killorn, who dashed Pickard's hopes for a shutout in the latter stages of the third period. Despite John Gibson's effort of 31 saves, Anaheim's slide continued, marking their fourth consecutive defeat and leaving them with only one victory in their last 11 games.
Henrique's early goal set the pace for the Oilers, coming just minutes into the game. McDavid quickly added to his impressive season tally with a goal in the first period, followed by Ekholm's robust shot from the point further increasing Edmonton's lead.
Another highlight was McDavid's third point during the game, earned seven minutes into the third period, which moved him ahead of competitors Nikita Kucherov and Nathan MacKinnon in the scoring lead.
Coming up, the Ducks will try to rebound against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday, while the Oilers aim to continue their winning ways on the road against the St. Louis Blues on Monday.
