Philadelphia Flyers News & Updates

Aleksei Kolosov made history as the first goalkeeper from Belarus to play in the NHL. He played for the Philadelphia Flyers in their match against the Montreal Canadiens at the age of 22, where he managed to stop 20 shots despite the Flyers losing 4-3.

The Flyers have faced challenges with their goaltending, particularly with Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov. Coach John Tortorella was not pleased with Fedotov's performance, leading him to elevate Kolosov to the starting position.

Initially drafted in the third round in 2021, Kolosov previously played in the KHL. At first, he was reluctant to join the Flyers' rookie and training camps, preferring to steer clear of the AHL. However, he eventually decided to join, participated in one preseason game, and was then assigned to Lehigh Valley.

Kolosov has improved his performance in the AHL and is now seen as ready to compete in the NHL. The Flyers hold a positive outlook on his potential after his short stint in the minor league.
