Ryan Hartman, a forward for the Minnesota Wild, received a three-game suspension due to an incident where he threw his stick towards officials after a game against the Vegas Golden Knights. This action led the NHL's Department of Player Safety to conduct a telephone hearing, where Hartman's conduct was deemed unsportsmanlike.
The incident occurred because Hartman was frustrated over a missed call for high-sticking by Vegas defenseman Noah Hanifin. Following a goal that secured the win for the Golden Knights, Hartman expressed his displeasure by hurling his stick at the game officials. Additionally, he was penalized for using abusive language towards them.
This suspension comes as no surprise given Hartman's history with the league; he is considered a repeat offender with seven fines and three suspensions in his record, including a recent two-game suspension for tripping. Due to this latest infraction, Hartman will not participate in the next few games at home for the Wild and will lose over $62,000 in salary, which will be directed to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Throughout this season, Hartman has accumulated 42 points and 72 penalty minutes. Over his career spanning more than 500 games, he has achieved 275 points and received 577 penalty minutes.
