Boston Bruins News & Updates

Following a 2-1 defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round series' Game 6, Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery expressed disappointment in forward David Pastrnak's performance.

Montgomery highlighted the necessity for key players to rise to the occasion during critical times. He praised Brad Marchand for his contributions but pointed out that Pastrnak needs to elevate his game.

Even with a series advantage of 3-1 at one point, Pastrnak has managed to score only two goals and notch up a total of four points in the playoffs so far.

In Game 6, the Bruins had a slow start, letting the Maple Leafs get 12 shots on goal during the first period alone. William Nylander managed to net two goals early, securing a lead for Toronto.

Though the Bruins improved their play as the game progressed, the Maple Leafs effectively limited their scoring chances. Boston's efforts were further hampered by the continuous play of Auston Matthews, despite his presence.

The issues raised by Montgomery were similar to those observed in Game 5, where the Bruins had another disappointing start. His prior warnings about the team’s performance went unheeded.

This situation is reminiscent of the previous season for the Bruins, where they lost a 3-1 series lead in the first round, despite having won the Presidents' Trophy.

Amidst the setback, Montgomery remains focused on the current challenges and is preparing his team for Game 7.
