Montreal Canadiens Extend Martin St. Louis as Head Coach for Two Additional Seasons

The Montreal Canadiens have announced a two-year contract extension for head coach Martin St. Louis, securing his role with the team until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Despite the Canadiens not qualifying for the playoffs in the last three years, the team's executive Jeff Gorton lauded St. Louis for his exceptional leadership qualities. St. Louis, who stepped into the coaching position in February 2022, has achieved a coaching record of 75 wins, 100 losses, and 26 overtime/shootout losses.

Prior to his coaching career, St. Louis enjoyed a distinguished career as a player, notably winning the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Recognized for his achievements on the ice with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, he accumulated more than 1,000 points during his NHL career.
