Toronto Maple Leafs News & Updates

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking forward to the return of their premier defenseman Morgan Rielly from an upper-body injury in the upcoming game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Rielly, who is 30 years old, has been sidelined for four games but has participated in practice sessions on Monday and Tuesday. As one of the NHL's leading defensemen, he has tallied 51 points this season and tops the Leafs' chart in playing time.

The team's forward, Mitchell Marner, dealing with an ankle injury, took part in Tuesday's practice. However, it seems unlikely that he will play until the Saturday game against the Montreal Canadiens. To date, Marner has accumulated 76 points this season.

Sheldon Keefe, the coach of the team, confirmed, "Rielly is set to play in tomorrow's game, while Marner is looking at a possible return this weekend."

Since being selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft, Rielly has contributed 465 points over 784 games for Toronto. On the other hand, Marner, who was the fourth overall pick in 2015, has scored 630 points in 569 games for the Leafs.

Currently, the Toronto team, with a record of 43 wins, 22 losses, and 9 overtime losses, totaling 95 points, has enjoyed a three-game winning streak. They are just four points behind the Florida Panthers in the Atlantic Division, who lead with a record of 47 wins, 23 losses, and 5 overtime losses, amassing 99 points.
