Nathan MacKinnon delivered an overtime goal to give the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night, earning their first victory of the season.
The success of the Colorado team was bolstered by two goals from Ross Colton in the third period and a milestone achievement by Casey Mittelstadt, alongside 16 saves from Alexandar Georgiev.
For the Anaheim Ducks, Leo Carlsson, Ryan Strome, and Troy Terry found the net. Lukas Dostal made an impressive 45 saves. Troy Terry's late goal with 12.6 seconds left in regulation time forced the game into overtime.
The Avalanche's relentless attacking and dominance in the offensive zone helped secure their win over Anaheim.
The Ducks struggled with their power play, failing to convert any of their three opportunities and remaining scoreless on 14 attempts this season.
Avalanche’s offense was invigorated by a breakaway goal from Mittelstadt, with the assist from Nikolai Kovalenko.
Colorado successfully defended all three of their penalty kills and managed to score on one out of six power play chances.
The next game will see the Ducks welcoming Los Angeles on Sunday, while the Avalanche are set to play in San Jose.
