Ottawa Senators News & Updates

In a match held in Ottawa, Brendan Smith played a crucial role for the New Jersey Devils with one goal and two assists, contributing significantly to their 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators. This victory marked the end of a trio of consecutive losses for them.

Contributions from Erik Haula, Ondrej Palat, and Nico Hischier also proved vital for the Devils, who clinched the season series against the Senators with two wins out of three games. Jake Allen was instrumental in goal, securing 25 saves during the game.

The Senators saw goals from Jake Sanderson, Claude Giroux, and Brady Tkachuk but were unable to overcome a 4-1 deficit after the first two periods, marking their third consecutive defeat. The Senators had Anton Forsberg and Joonas Korpisalo sharing duties in goal throughout the match.

Giroux narrowed the gap with a power-play goal as Ottawa was trying to catch up, and although a penalty shot was awarded to Jack Hughes, he did not capitalize on it. The Senators were boosted by the return of Chabot, who missed four games due to an injury.

With less than six minutes remaining, Tkachuk brought Ottawa within a single goal. Sanderson had earlier scored a power-play goal for the Senators just 33 seconds into the second period, but Hischier's goal restored the Devils' lead by three goals at the 11:04 mark.

The Devils established an early lead in the game, going up 3-0 in the first period thanks to the efforts of Haula, Palat, and Smith.

Looking ahead, the Devils are set to host Nashville on Sunday, while the Senators will be visiting Washington for their next game.
