New Jersey Devils Secure Promising Talent Dawson Mercer with $12 Million Contract Extension

Dawson Mercer, a restricted free agent, has agreed to a three-year extension contract valued at $12 million with the New Jersey Devils.
At 22 years old, Mercer, who plays as a center, was selected by the Devils in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft. Over the past three seasons, he has participated in all 82 games each season, earning a total of 131 career points.
In Mercer's previous season, he recorded a career-low 33 points. However, during the 2022-23 season, he achieved career highs in goals, assists, and total points with 27, 29, and 56, respectively.
The Devils are set to commence their preseason games on Sunday against the New York Islanders.
