In the opening round of the NHL Playoffs, the Dallas Stars, who top the Central Division with a stellar 52-21-9 record, are pitted against the Vegas Golden Knights, ranked fourth in the Pacific Division with a 45-29-8 record. The Golden Knights currently have the upper hand in the series, leading 2-1.
The latest game saw the Stars securing a win in overtime by a narrow margin of 3-2, thanks in large part to Wyatt Johnston's two-goal performance. The Golden Knights have shown remarkable prowess on their home ice, holding a 27-12-3 record, and have secured a 41-10-6 record when scoring three or more goals. The Stars, however, are not far behind with an equally impressive road record of 27-10-5 and have registered a victory in 47 out of the 52 games where they scored at least three goals.
For the Golden Knights, Jonathan Marchessault stands out with 42 goals and 27 assists, while Jack Eichel has been on a tear with seven goals and an equal number of assists in the recent 10 games. The Stars have their own powerhouse in Jason Robertson, who has tallied 29 goals and 51 assists, and Wyatt Johnston, adding five goals and four assists in his last 10 appearances.
The Golden Knights have recently averaged 3.2 goals and faced 2.3 penalties per game, while giving up an average of 3.1 goals. Conversely, the Stars have managed an average of 2.8 goals and 2.6 penalties per game, with a stronger defensive record of conceding just 2.1 goals on average.
