Tampa Bay Lightning News & Updates

Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault eagerly anticipated specific dates on the NHL schedule, just like the newly appointed coaches Craig Berube, Sheldon Keefe, and Dan Bylsma.

The defending champion Florida Panthers will play against the Edmonton Oilers in Edmonton on December 16 and will host them in Florida on February 27.

The NHL schedule features 1,312 games. The season kicks off with the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres playing in Prague on October 4 and 5, and it wraps up with six games on April 17.

Player Homecomings

Stamkos is set to compete against his former team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, on October 28 in Nashville. Marchessault will return to Las Vegas on April 12 to play against the Golden Knights. Jake DeBrusk will visit Boston on November 26 with the Vancouver Canucks.

Coaching Homecomings

Lindy Ruff will face the Devils in Buffalo for the season opener. Keefe will return to Toronto on January 16, and Berube will visit St. Louis on November 2. Bylsma is set to take on the Sabres on January 11 in Buffalo and the Penguins on January 14 in Pittsburgh.

Taking Breaks

The schedule includes 16 days without games. There will be no games in the U.S. on Thanksgiving, and the league will have a Christmas break from December 24 to 26. Additionally, there will be a pause from February 10 to 21 for the 4 Nations Face-Off.

There are seven days with just one game, including October 21 (Lightning at Maple Leafs) and October 23 (Flyers at Capitals).
