Washington Capitals player Tom Wilson is set for a videoconference in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety this Friday.
This hearing is triggered by an incident involving Wilson, where he was penalised for high-sticking Noah Gregor of the Toronto Maple Leafs during the third period of their game on Wednesday, resulting in Wilson earning a double minor penalty.
An in-person hearing for Wilson indicates the possibility of a suspension lasting six games or longer, especially given his history of similar offenses.
Throughout his 11 seasons with the Capitals, the 29-year-old Wilson has faced suspension five times, with the latest occurring in March 2021.
Over the course of this season, Wilson has recorded 32 points, comprising 17 goals and 15 assists, and has collected 120 penalty minutes in 66 games. His career statistics include 327 points, with 145 goals and 182 assists, over 746 games, alongside 1,419 penalty minutes.
