Boone Jenner, the captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his wife are mourning the loss of their stillborn son, named Dawson, who passed away on Sunday.
Through a statement, the couple shared their deep sorrow and extended their thanks for the overwhelming support and love they have received in this challenging time. They also shared their belief in reuniting with Dawson in heaven.
Following this tragedy, Jenner's participation in upcoming games remains uncertain. He was notably absent from Monday's game, which was attributed to an illness connected with the recent loss.
Jenner, a 30-year-old from Dorchester, Ontario, has been loyal to the Blue Jackets throughout his NHL career. He became the team's captain three years past and was honored to represent the team at the All-Star Game this season.
