Pittsburgh Penguins icon Sidney Crosby has once again been honored as the NHL's most well-rounded player in the latest NHLPA survey, garnering 38.4% of the vote. This achievement marks his fifth year in a row receiving this distinction.
In addition, Crosby found himself in a respected second place for the category of the player preferred for faceoffs on one's team, securing 13.6% of votes, just trailing behind Ryan O'Reilly from the Nashville Predators. When considering the forward of choice for winning a crucial game, Crosby also earned second place with 11.6% of the votes, while Connor McDavid from the Edmonton Oilers led with 48.7%.
Tampa Bay Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy was acclaimed as the top goaltender for the third year running, and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche was recognized as the leading defenseman for the second consecutive year, including being acclaimed for his breakout passing skills.
Connor McDavid excelled as the top stick handler, surpassing Patrick Kane from the Detroit Red Wings. Yet, he was second to Nikita Kucherov of the Lightning in the best playmaker category. Furthermore, McDavid was found less preferable to play against but highly desired as a teammate, falling behind Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins who has held this title for three years.
McDavid also came in second as the most challenging player to compete against in their defensive end, with Victor Hedman of the Lightning taking the top spot.
The T-Mobile Arena, home of the Vegas Golden Knights, was voted as the most intimidating venue for visiting teams. Meanwhile, the Bell Centre in Montreal won accolades for having the best ice quality for the sixth year running.
Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak was celebrated for having the most impressive style.
