Los Angeles Kings News & Updates

Los Angeles Kings player Tanner Jeannot has been suspended for three games following an illegal hit to the head of Vancouver Canucks player Brock Boeser. This incident happened during the first period of the Kings' 4-2 defeat on Thursday night.

Jeannot was penalized with a match penalty for using his right shoulder to deliver a high hit that impacted Boeser's head. The NHL determined that the hit was illegal based on two conditions: the head was the primary point of contact, and Jeannot's method of delivering the hit was inappropriate.

This marks Jeannot's second issue with the NHL Department of Player Safety. He was previously fined $2,000 for a kneeing incident involving Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk in March 2022.

Under the collective bargaining agreement, Jeannot will lose $41,640.63. He has the option to appeal this suspension to commissioner Gary Bettman within 48 hours, but due to the suspension's duration, he cannot pursue a further appeal to a neutral arbitrator.

This season for the Kings, Jeannot has scored one goal and made one assist over 15 games. In contrast, Boeser has accumulated 11 points, consisting of six goals and five assists, in 12 games for the Canucks.
