Vancouver Canucks News & Updates

In an exciting overtime win, a goal from Valeri Nichushkin just half a minute into the extra frame secured a 4-3 victory for the Colorado Avalanche against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Avalanche managed to overcome a significant early setback, being three goals down in the second period, thanks to efforts from Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, Ross Colton, and ultimately Nichushkin. Colorado's Alexandar Georgiev contributed with 18 saves.

The Canucks saw Nikita Zadorov and J.T. Miller each contribute a goal and an assist, with Ilya Mikheyev adding another goal. Casey DeSmith, stepping in for the sidelined Thatcher Demko, made 30 saves out of 34 shots.

With the Avalanche benefiting from a power play due to Carson Soucy's penalty, a shot from MacKinnon was redirected by Nichushkin to clinch the winning goal as the overtime began.

MacKinnon's contribution to Rantanen's goal, which initiated Colorado's late revival in the closing seconds of the second period, marked his 14th consecutive game with a point, setting the longest active streak in the league.

The Canucks had initially surged ahead with early strikes from Miller and Mikheyev, but the Avalanche gradually closed the gap over the course of the match.

Following this win, the Avalanche is set to proceed with their four-game road trip, facing Edmonton on Saturday, while the Canucks will play host to Washington that same evening.
