Buffalo Sabres News & Updates

Buffalo Sabres forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel is set to play on Monday against the Florida Panthers, even though he has been injured since the start of the season.

Since October 22nd, Aube-Kubel has been practicing and is anticipated to join a line with Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn. Coach Lindy Ruff mentioned that this change could enhance the forecheck pressure against the physically demanding Panthers team.

The injury occurred in the first game of the NHL Global Series Czechia when Aube-Kubel awkwardly twisted his leg during an attempt to hit Devils defenseman Jonathan Kovacevic. Initially, it was expected that he would be sidelined for three to six weeks.

In July, the Sabres signed Aube-Kubel as a free agent. During his last season with the Capitals, he achieved six goals, 10 assists, a plus-4 rating, and recorded 159 hits.

Throughout his career, Aube-Kubel has played for multiple teams including the Flyers, Avalanche, Maple Leafs, and Capitals, after being drafted by Philadelphia in 2014. He was part of the Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup in 2022.
