Alex Nylander was pivotal in the Columbus Blue Jackets securing a 4-2 win against the San Jose Sharks, putting an end to a three-match losing skid. Nylander found the back of the net twice and also set up a goal, and Daniil Tarasov stopped 39 shots.
Johnny Gaudreau added a goal and crafted two assists, with Boone Jenner also netting a goal and providing an assist, helping Columbus to continue their dominance over the Sharks with a fourth consecutive victory.
For San Jose, Fabian Zetterlund and Henry Thrun each scored a goal, as the team grapples with the lowest standings in the NHL. The Sharks, with Magnus Chrona making 16 saves, have faced defeat in 12 out of their recent 13 encounters.
The game's scoring opened with Jenner's goal in the first period, followed by Nylander amplifying Columbus' lead in the second. Zetterlund narrowed the margin for San Jose, only for Gaudreau to again widen it. Although Thrun managed to cut down the lead once more, Nylander sealed the win with a goal into an empty net.
Since his move to Columbus from Toronto, Nylander has amassed 11 points in 11 games.
The Sharks are set to play next in Chicago on Sunday, while the Blue Jackets will welcome Winnipeg at their home.
