Toronto Maple Leafs News & Updates

In a game where the Toronto Maple Leafs emerged victorious with a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken, William Nylander scored twice, and Joseph Woll made 24 saves. Matthews Knies and Auston Matthews also found the back of the net, with Matthews contributing an assist as well. Eeli Tolvanen was the lone goal scorer for Seattle, and Joey Daccord made 25 saves.

Knies opened the scoring late in the first period, and Nylander added two more goals in the second period. Woll's hope for a shutout was spoiled in the third period when Tolvanen scored.

Seattle was shorthanded on defense as they missed Vince Dunn and also had to play without Brandon Montour, who was away due to the birth of his child. Knies continued his impressive form, extending his goal streak to three games and reaching a total of six for the season, while Nylander leads the team with eight goals.

A key moment occurred just before the end of the first period when Matthews won a faceoff and passed to Mitch Marner, who then set up Knies for the first goal of the game.

John Tavares joined a select group of Maple Leafs players aged 34 or older to record ten or more points in the opening ten games of a season, with an assist on Nylander's first goal contributing to this achievement.

Looking ahead, Seattle is set to travel to Ottawa for the second of five consecutive road games, while Toronto will begin a two-game road trip with a matchup in St. Louis.
