Oilers Dominate Blue Jackets 6-3: Draisaitl and Hyman Score, McDavid Provides Assists

Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman each scored twice, and Connor McDavid assisted on four occasions, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 6-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. Scoring was also contributed by Mattias Ekholm and Jeff Skinner for the Oilers, who have secured wins in four of their last five matches.

Draisaitl is now at the top of the NHL with 19 goals, while McDavid became the third player in Oilers history to achieve 10 games with four assists. Before the match, McDavid received recognition for achieving 1,000 career points.

Scoring for the Blue Jackets were Kevin Lablanc, Damon Severson, and Cole Sillinger, marking their second consecutive loss after a 6-1-1 run.

In takeaways, for the Blue Jackets, Zach Werenski saw his point streak come to an end but still managed an assist, marking his 10th consecutive game with at least one point.

For the Oilers, Hyman made a notable return from injury, scoring two goals in what was his second multi-goal game since becoming part of the team.

During a critical moment, McDavid assisted on a decisive goal by Draisaitl in the second period. This goal remained valid following a video review, despite Columbus disputing it for goaltender interference.

As a key statistic, the Oilers hold a 6-6-1 record at their home stadium and will play seven of their next eight games at Rogers Place.

Looking ahead, the Blue Jackets will travel to face the Vancouver Canucks on Friday, while the Oilers are set to host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
