Washington Capitals News & Updates

After being knocked out of the playoffs, T.J. Oshie contemplated the possibility of retiring due to persistent back problems that have plagued his 17-year career in the NHL.

Throughout the playoff series, Oshie competed despite having a fractured left hand and has faced significant back pain over the years, which necessitated thorough preparations for him to play in NHL matches.

Brian MacLellan, the team's general manager, expressed that the organization would stand by Oshie's choice regarding his career and stressed that there is no rush for him to make a decision. Oshie's potential retirement would evidently influence the Capitals' plans for the offseason.

Oshie is highly regarded by his teammates and fans alike, having been a key contributor to the Capitals for almost ten years.

Regarding Alex Ovechkin, who didn't score a goal in the first round of the playoffs, he is still aiming to break Wayne Gretzky's NHL record, being 42 goals away. MacLellan is looking to bolster the team to provide better support for Ovechkin.
