Anthony Stolarz faced a challenging game with 37 saves for Toronto, halting the team's streak of three consecutive wins.

Auston Matthews remained absent for his fourth game due to injury, while Shane Pinto made a return to the Ottawa lineup after missing eight games.

For Ottawa, a key takeaway is Ullmark achieving his inaugural shutout with the Senators after being acquired from Boston during the off-season and recently securing a four-year, $33 million contract extension.

As for Toronto, they allowed 34 shots on goal only three times prior, but Ottawa managed 35 shots within the first two periods against them.

A pivotal moment occurred when Stutzle scored early in the second period, quickly followed by Amadio's goal, which put Ottawa ahead 3-0.
