The goal by Wilson came in the second period, set up by a skillful backhand pass from Ivan Miroshnichenko, with Ovechkin scoring shortly after, capitalizing on an assist from Connor McMichael during DeSmith's momentary absence from the goal.

After a somewhat sluggish season start, Ovechkin has now boosted his performance with 11 goals in his recent 20 games.

The game marked a significant career milestone for T.J. Oshie as well, who was playing his 1,000th NHL game, an occasion celebrated with an ovation from the audience. Tyler Myers made a comeback to the Canucks' squad after being sidelined for six games due to an injury.
