Aleksander Barkov turned previous setbacks into a motivating force, leading his team to a decisive victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
In the clinching Game 5, Barkov alongside Carter Verhaeghe scored two goals each, while Sergei Bobrovsky's 31 saves ensured a dominant 6-1 win for Florida.
Key contributions also came from Niko Mikkola, Evan Rodrigues, and Matthew Tkachuk, helping the Panthers notch their inaugural playoff series win against Tampa Bay.
For the second year in a row, the Lightning exited the playoffs in the first round, with their top-ranked power play failing to score in three attempts.
The Panthers are set to take on either Boston or Toronto in the forthcoming round, with Boston leading their series 3-1 presently.
Following the loss, Tampa Bay's coach aired grievances over two goals that were overturned following goaltender interference reviews.
