Edmonton Oilers News & Updates

The Florida Panthers maintain their confidence in winning the Stanley Cup, even after Edmonton Oilers' Connor McDavid's four-point effort led to a 5-3 victory in Game 5.

Although the Panthers' lead in the series has narrowed to 3-2, they have become the fourth NHL team to push a Finals series to Game 6 after initially leading 3-0.

Matthew Tkachuk, the Panthers' center, shrugged off any notion of pressure, noting that the team will approach Game 6 with the same mindset as Game 3.

During the game, Tkachuk not only scored a goal and provided an assist but also received a penalty for embellishment.

Despite recent challenges, forward Sam Bennett expressed his belief that the series is still within reach, stressing the importance of focusing on winning the next game.

Coach Paul Maurice emphasized the need for the Panthers to minimize penalties and avoid conceding shorthanded goals.

Historically, the Panthers are in a favorable position, with the Oilers being only the fourth team to force a Game 6 after being down 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final. Notably, only the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs have come back to win after such a deficit.

Maurice conveyed his confidence in the team's standing, asserting that the situation remains unchanged despite the outcomes of the last two games.

Game 6 is scheduled to take place in Edmonton on Friday night, where Oilers' goalie Stuart Skinner expects a strong effort from the Panthers.
