Florida was on the verge of clinching home advantage for the playoffs and succeeded with an overtime goal by Sam Reinhart, his 55th of the season, to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 3-2.

The critical goal from Reinhart came with assistance from Aleksander Barkov, contributing to Florida's victory alongside goals from Anton Lundell and Kevin Stenlund. Matthew Tkachuk achieved a personal milestone by making his 60th assist for the season, while Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 27 shots in what was his 700th game.

For Buffalo, Tyson Jost and Jack Quinn found the back of the net, and goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made an impressive 39 saves. Despite having a 5-minute power play opportunity in the third period, Florida was unable to score. The Sabres displayed a strong penalty kill, successfully defending against Florida's power play, including a critical 4-on-3 situation in overtime.

The game was intensely fought, with both teams scoring four goals within a six-minute window in the first period. The match remained locked at 2-2 until Reinhart broke the deadlock, ensuring that Florida would enjoy home advantage in the playoffs' first round.

Following this, the Sabres look forward to facing Tampa Bay in their last game of the season, whereas the Panthers will be up against Toronto in their final regular-season game.
