Florida Panthers News & Updates

Paul Maurice, the coach of the Florida Panthers, experienced an auspicious sign when a fire alarm went off at their hotel before a critical game, recalling how such disturbances had previously presaged victories.

This sense of fate was affirmed as Gustav Forsling netted a decisive goal in the dying moments of the game, and Sergei Bobrovsky ensured a 2-1 triumph against the Boston Bruins. This win propelled the Panthers into the Eastern Conference finals.

Just a season removed from competing in the Stanley Cup Finals, the Panthers are set to go head-to-head with the New York Rangers. Despite losing out on sleep, Maurice is afforded five days to strategize for the first game on Wednesday.

Anton Lundell contributed to the victory with a goal and later assisting Forsling’s crucial score. Forsling himself was taken aback by his pivotal goal, considering his reputation is more aligned with defensive contributions.

The Panthers managed to defeat Boston in all three of their encounters in Boston during this series, underscoring their dominance at TD Garden where they previously ousted the Bruins in the playoffs last year.

While Pavel Zacha initially put Boston ahead, Bobrovsky was instrumental in preventing any further goals. The Bruins struggled to make an impact with their 135 shots compared to the Panthers' 198.

Jim Montgomery, Boston's coach, reflected on the challenge of consistently securing wins in games with few goals. Even with captain Brad Marchand back in the lineup, the Bruins were unable to get past Bobrovsky’s formidable defense.

Boston initially led the game in the first period, but Florida leveled the field in the second period. An opportunity arising from a bench minor against Florida for too many men on the ice did not result in a goal for them.
