Florida Panthers News & Updates

In an electrifying display during Tuesday's playoff clash, Sergei Bobrovsky's exceptional save using his mask followed by a miraculous diving save without seeing the puck left the Florida Panthers in awe.

The Panthers emerged victorious thanks to Carter Verhaeghe's skillful backhand goal just below the top of the net, securing a 3-2 win in overtime against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This achievement marks Verhaeghe as the sixth player in the history of the NHL to score at least five playoff overtime goals, joining the ranks of hockey legends such as Joe Sakic and Maurice Richard.

Goals for the Panthers were contributed by Sam Bennett and Vladimir Tarasenko, while the Lightning saw Braden Point and Steven Stamkos hitting the back of the net. Bobrovsky demonstrated outstanding goalkeeping with 21 saves, including moments worthy of highlight reels. On the other side, Vasilevskiy made 34 saves for the Lightning.

Despite falling behind 2-0, the Lightning made a strong comeback in the second period with goals from Point and Stamkos equalizing the score. The game took a turn with Bennett's injury and was finally clinched by Verhaeghe's goal in overtime, securing the Panthers' victory.

The playoff series is set to continue with Game 3 taking place in Tampa on Thursday.
