Florida Panthers News & Updates

On Wednesday, the Florida Panthers achieved a commanding 5-1 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs, marking their second win in their last eight outings.

Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe each scored during power plays, and Sam Reinhart contributed a short-handed goal. Additional key performances came from Mackie Samoskevich, Sam Bennett, and Sergei Bobrovsky, who made 24 saves, helping the Panthers to secure the win.

The Maple Leafs experienced a setback with Mitch Marner netting their sole goal. Anthony Stolarz contended with 19 shots, and Bobby McMann had to leave the game due to a lower body injury.

Before the game, Maple Leafs players Anthony Stolarz, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, and Steven Lorentz were presented with their Stanley Cup championship rings from former Panthers teammates in a ceremonial gesture.

While Anton Lundell was not present, Florida’s Samoskevich showed promise by scoring early on, enhancing the Panthers' unbeaten record to 4-0-0 when he finds the net.

Reinhart has excelled this season with four short-handed goals, putting Florida and Columbus among the few teams achieving this feat, whereas 20 other NHL teams have managed one or fewer.

The Maple Leafs are set to play Tampa Bay on Saturday, and the Panthers will travel to Carolina for the first match of a home-and-home series, which will wrap up on Saturday in Sunrise.
