Columbus Blue Jackets News & Updates

Patrik Laine has been given the green light to rejoin the Columbus Blue Jackets after taking part in the NHL/NHLPA Players Assistance Program. Laine entered the program due to a complication in his recovery from a broken clavicle sustained in December.

General Manager Don Waddell has indicated that all possibilities are being explored regarding Laine's future, who had previously requested a trade. During this period, Waddell became the GM and appointed Dean Evason as the coach.

Waddell acknowledges that Laine is seeking a different environment but maintains that any trade must have the approval of both sides. If a suitable trade cannot be agreed upon, the team will need to make the best of the current circumstances.

Laine, who is 26 years old, recorded nine points in 18 games last season. Since being selected second overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 2016, he has accumulated 388 points in 480 games played for both the Jets and Blue Jackets.
