Dallas Stars News & Updates

In the second period, Joe Pavelski of the Stars scored a key goal by adeptly redirecting the puck into the net while he was behind it and turned away from it. This goal was instrumental in leading the playoff-bound Stars to a close 3-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres.

For the Stars, Jason Robertson and Wyatt Johnston also scored, with Thomas Harley providing two assists. This victory was crucial as it was their 10th in the last 11 games, propelling them to the top of the Western Conference with 109 points.

On the side of the Buffalo Sabres, Alex Tuch and Rasmus Dahlin managed to score in the initial period. However, their inability to make the most of two power-play opportunities in the final period saw them missing out on playoff chances for the 13th year in a row.

Both teams had goals disallowed following challenges for high sticks. Pavelski’s significant goal contributed to his career total of 1,067 points, ranking him among the top five American-born players in the sport.

This season marks the first time the Stars have secured 50 wins since the 2015-16 season, positioning them for a return as champions of the Central Division. They are hopeful of revisiting their triumph from the 1998-99 season when they won the Stanley Cup.

The Sabres are set to play their final home game of the season against the Washington Capitals on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Stars will go up against the Winnipeg Jets, a team coached by their former coach, Rick Bowness.
