Penguins Bounce Back with 6-3 Win Against Red Wings, Beauvillier Nets Two in First Game

Anthony Beauvillier found the net twice, and Joel Blomqvist secured 29 saves in his first NHL game, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night.

Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each provided two assists, playing roles in four of the Penguins' six goals. Pittsburgh also saw goals from Marcus Pettersson, Erik Karlsson, Kevin Hayes, and Drew O'Connor.

For the Red Wings, Alex DeBrincat scored twice, with Vladimir Tarasenko adding another goal. Ville Husso was replaced after conceding four goals from just 14 shots.

The Penguins took a decisive lead by scoring three goals within 2:28 early in the second period. The Red Wings, who struggled defensively last season, allowing four or more goals in 39 of their 82 games, faced similar challenges in this opener.

The Penguins will play in Toronto on Saturday night, while the Red Wings are set to host Nashville the same evening.
