Pittsburgh Penguins News & Updates

The planned giveaway of Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads at the Pittsburgh Penguins event will not take place as initially announced due to the theft of the shipment meant for fans.

As a substitute for the missing bobbleheads, attendees of the game against the San Jose Sharks will be handed a voucher. This voucher, which includes a scannable barcode, can be exchanged for the bobblehead at a future date, pending the recovery of the stolen items or the production of new ones.

The team discovered the theft when the expected delivery did not show up. In response, they have reached out to the manufacturer, shipping companies, and law enforcement agencies in hopes of retrieving the stolen shipment.

It's suspected that the theft took place in California upon the shipment's arrival. Kevin Acklin, the Penguins' president of business operations, voiced his astonishment over the situation and assured that they are in close communication with investigative bodies.

In spite of this setback, Jagr is set to be present at the game, with the team being hopeful about overcoming this challenge and ensuring the fans receive their bobbleheads.

The night dedicated to celebrating Jagr's significant contributions during his 11 seasons with the Penguins, which includes winning two Stanley Cups, is an important event. His recent recognition, when his number was retired in February, was a poignant moment for Jagr, especially considering the mixed reactions from fans upon his returns as an opposing player.

Penguins forward Bryan Rust commented on Jagr's lasting influence on the team and the community. Offering a lighthearted perspective, Kevin Acklin quipped about the situation's peculiar nature, likening it to something one might read in The Onion.
