In an exciting overtime triumph, Sidney Crosby was instrumental in guiding the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-5 victory against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.
Crosby delivered the game-winning goal during a power play just 1:38 into overtime. Additionally, Evgeni Malkin achieved a significant moment by becoming the 48th player in NHL history to score 500 career goals.
A major milestone was also reached by Crosby, as he became the 10th player in NHL history to earn 1,600 regular-season points.
Despite an unstable start with Tristan Jarry conceding three goals in the first period, Pittsburgh was able to stage a comeback fueled by goals from Bryan Rust, Drew O'Connor, and Jesse Puljujarvi.
For the Buffalo team, J.J. Peterka successfully scored twice, while Ryan McLeod, Tage Thompson, and Jordan Greenway each managed to score as well.
The Sabres came close to securing back-to-back wins for the first time this season, but they could not maintain their leads.
The Penguins, however, achieved their first consecutive victories of the season.
The Sabres are set to continue their road trip in Columbus on Thursday, while the Penguins will host Carolina on Friday before heading out on a four-game road trip.
