Buffalo Sabres News & Updates

Shane Pinto, with a goal and three assists, was instrumental in the Ottawa Senators' dominating 6-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres, where the Senators hit the back of the net five times in the opening period.

The scoring for Ottawa began with Artem Zub, and Boris Katchouk, Brady Tkachuk, Jakob Chychrun, and Drake Batherson also found the net.

In goal, Joonas Korpisalo made 34 saves for Ottawa. The Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was pulled after conceding four goals from just nine attempts, with Devon Levi stepping in as his replacement.

The Sabres managed to get goals from JJ Peterka and Connor Clifton, despite missing their main goalie Eric Comrie due to an upper-body injury.

After the first period, the Sabres found themselves in a 4-0 hole, their worst home game opening since March of the previous year. The Senators have impressively scored five or more goals in a single period 17 times within this season.

For Buffalo, Jack Quinn made a comeback from an injury, and Alex Tuch continued his point streak, now at six games.

Next, the Senators are set to host the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, and the Sabres will continue their five-game homestand against the New Jersey Devils come Friday.
