Pittsburgh Penguins Hire Ex-Sharks and Rangers Coach David Quinn as Assistant

The Pittsburgh Penguins have brought on David Quinn, previously the head coach for the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers, to serve as an assistant coach.

At 57, Quinn will be part of head coach Mike Sullivan's team, working alongside assistant coaches Mike Vellucci and Ty Hennes, with a focus on the defensemen.

General manager Kyle Dubas commended Quinn's extensive coaching background and his talent for nurturing top-tier defensemen, highlighting his contributions to Adam Fox and Erik Karlsson, both of whom received the Norris Trophy with his mentorship.

Quinn's earlier coaching tenure includes leading Boston University from 2013 to 2018, and he also played alongside Sullivan in the 1986-87 season.

During his time as head coach of the Rangers from 2018 to 2021 and the Sharks from 2022 to 2024, Quinn achieved a record of 137-185-50.
