Pittsburgh Penguins News & Updates

The Pittsburgh Penguins have decided to have goaltender Tristan Jarry return home for dedicated individual training aimed at enhancing his performance.

Coach Mike Sullivan shared this update on Thursday during the Penguins' ongoing four-game road trip across Western Canada.

Jarry has faced difficulties in his recent games, showing a record of 1-1-0, an average of 5.47 goals against, and a save percentage of .836. His performance led to an early exit in a game against Buffalo after conceding three goals from five shots.

Jarry is set to work closely with Jon Elkin, who serves as the club's director of goaltending.

Sullivan emphasized that this strategy is part of their approach to help Tristan reach the best of his abilities.

Currently, Jarry is in his second year of a five-year contract extension. Despite achieving six shutouts in the previous season, he was replaced by Alex Nedjelkovic during the playoffs.

Sullivan acknowledged that Jarry's initial few starts this season have not been ideal, but stressed the importance of supporting players through challenging times.

The team's goaltending responsibilities are presently shared between Nedjelkovic and newcomer Joel Blomqvist, as the Penguins have experienced three consecutive losses.

There is no fixed date for Jarry's return, and Sullivan noted that this is part of a process with Jarry's full commitment, and adjustments will be made as they continue this initiative.
